Boarding houses, or bed and breakfasts (B&Bs), have smaller capacity than hotels, don’t usually have restaurants i.e. and generally there is no 24hr reception. We also categorize pensions and guest houses under B&Bs, as in Prague there is very little difference between them except that some of them do not provide breakfast.

They are usually run by the house owner (usually a family), so you can feel more like you are at home, or at least in a friendlier atmosphere. B&Bs can be very elegantly furnished with good facilities and are more affordable than most hotels. One disadvantage is that you will definitely get less privacy. B&B prices and facilities differ between establishments but normally much cheaper than hotels, and facilities are usually basic. They are often popular among drivers, as most, if not all, are located outside the city centre.
